- How long does the milk stay fresh?
- Our milk is in your local grocery stores within two days of packaging. The "use by" date branded on our
cartons is 14 days from the time of packaging, but don't be surprised if it lasts as long as 20 days with
proper refrigeration under 40 degrees F. Because our milk is not homogenized, the cream naturally rises
to
the top. You may notice small lumps of sweet cream in your milk as the date on the carton draws near.
- What type of cows produce Snowville Creamery milk?
- Snowville Creamery sources milk from a genetically diverse herd: a mix of Jersey,
Guernsey,
Brown Swiss, and Friesian. Rather than breeding for highest milk production, health, hardiness
and fertility are highly-valued attributes.

- Tips for dairy grocery shopping…
- Temperature fluctuation between shelf to cart and cart to home pose unique challenges for getting your
groceries home safely. Because fresh milk carries much nutritional value, most micro-bacteria (the good -
think yogurt cultures and the bad--think spoilage bacteria!) see it as an excellent food source.
Refrigeration slows micro-bacterial growth. In other words, to get the most out of food products that
must be refrigerated, place them in your grocery cart right before heading to the checkout. If you are
traveling more than 15 minutes from the grocery to your home, consider bringing along a cooler with ice
for your refrigerated purchases.
